How does a gematria calculator work

Gematria, also known as gimatria and hafrespectful is a system of assigning numerical values to Hebrew and Greek words abbreviated in the Torah. In religious communities, this technique is used to analyze the text of prayers, psalms, and other sacred literature.

A gematria calculator is an online tool that allows users to calculate the numerical values assigned to each Hebrew and Greek word in a text. By inputting a particular word or phrase into the calculator, it will automatically generate its numerical value corresponding to the traditional Jewish Gematria system.

Generally speaking, each letter has a numerical value assigned to it based upon its position in the Hebrew alphabet. The languages used for Gematria include Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic. Similarly, some modern gematria calculators also incorporate other languages such as Latin and English. For example, each representation typically begins with the first letters of that language which have been assigned specific numerical value from one through nine respectively. This means each individual letter in any given language has a numerical counterpart that can be added together for larger calculations that involve more than one letter at a time.

The Gematria algorithm works by summing up together all of the numeric values for every letter in a given word or phrase into one whole number. Each character is allocated its own fixed numeric value based on their order in the relevant alphabet. It should be noted that this system does not take into account any form of diacritical marks such as accents or circumflexes; numbers represented only by consonants are typically involved when computing with gematria calculators. Additionally, there are some variations on how letters are combined when two letters appear side by side (this may depend on whether they belong to different words or create adjacency).

The sum resulting from inputting any word or phrase into a gematria Calculator can then be compared with another set of numbers associated with certain words and phrases as defined within various religious texts thereby revealing correspondences between them which have unknown mystical significance. This idea has been heavily used tons Isreal-based Kabbalists who associate words with mysterious spiritual powers attributed to them such as those found within Jewish teachings like 'Krupot' or 'Sh'vut'. By understanding these correspondences they believe they can gain insight into divine secrets which are otherwise inaccessible to humans.
